It has been so long, is anyone still out there? I've thought many times that I need to make time to sit down and write, but alas, something always comes up. Today though, I'm doing it!
Surprise!!! We've moved. We moved into our house the week of Halloween. Being with Glen again and getting settled into our first house has been wonderful. I wake up every morning so grateful that Glen has a job and that we have a house. I really love being out of our apartment.
Moving was crazy! I am so grateful for all my amazing Hamden friends for coming to help me load the truck and for Lauren helping me scrub floors. The drive to Fort Wayne as happily uneventful. Having a movie player in the van is a saving grace. I don't know how we survived the dark ages without movie players!
I feel so fortunate to have spent the last three months painting, hanging up pictures, changing some light fixtures, putting up wainscoting (that not so fun) and organizing closets.
Glen's job is going very well so far! He works for Wells Fargo as a banker. That means he sets up new accounts, does car loans, helps refinance houses, sells CDs, basically everything but home loans. He's trying to build a client base, so if you need anything, talk to Glen. He's still working at Outback, but only on Saturday nights. There is only one Outback in Fort Wayne and it happens to be 3 minutes from our house. I love that.
Kate is doing wonderfully, shocker I know. She's a rock star at school. Everything comes so easily to her. She tells everyone that she and Rachel have a bigger bedroom and bathroom and Glen and me. She's funny.
Rachel is making the adjustment much better than I thought she would. She still reminds me that she misses Grammy and Pa and her friends in Connecticut. Fortunately there are kids on our cul-de-saq they can play with outside and she's been invited to a couple of birthday parties already. Her school class is a little ahead than where they were in Connecticut, so we're working on a few things and she's working hard.
Connor, Connor, Connor. Connor is hilarious. He is obsessed with cars. He growls at cars and has to have a hot wheel in each hand at all times. Right now his favorite are Ferraris. He can say Ferrari too. His other favorites are Porsches and Corvettes. Yes, he has expensive taste. There is a Porsche dealership close to our house and he stares and growls every time we pass by. It cracks me up. No surprise he had a car themed Christmas. Right now he's watching the movie Cars so I can type.
I'm still on cloud 9. We're employed and have a home. This past year of less than pleasantries helped put life in perspective for me. I know we've been watched over and have been richly blessed. I'm not saying life is perfect, but things are much better. I LOVE having a house if I haven't mentioned that already. One of my favorite parts of the house....the garage!!! I love pulling into the garage rain, sleet, snow or shine and closing the door. No more getting soaked putting kids in the car and making a dozen trips in the rain with groceries. I also love having a dining room. It is free from all clutter and I can't see my messy kitchen when we sit down for dinner. We have a guest room so I'm hoping that we'll have lots of visitors here. Apparently we have an awesome zoo in Fort Wayne and a kids science museum. I look forward to checking them both out when it is not so cold. I have been getting to know some very nice people here, but I miss all my friends in Connecticut. I never thought I'd say this, but I'm actually grateful for Facebook so I can keep up with everyone. So everyone keep posting and putting up pictures!!
